HOUSTON – KHOU 11 Sports reporter Matt Musil has confirmed that the Houston Texans and head coach Bill O’Brien have hired Romeo Crennel to be their next defensive coordinator.
The three-year deal is expected to be made official soon.
Crennel was one of the coaches this past weekend for the East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, Florida.
He said last week he would make a decision about whether or not he’d return to the game after his coaching obligations were complete.
The former Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns head coach made his name as a defensive coordinator with the New England Patriots, winning three Super Bowls in 2001, 2003 and 2004.
