HOUSTON (AP) - The Houston Texans selected game-changing defensive end Jadeveon Clowney with the first overall pick in the draft and filled their need at quarterback by taking Tom Savage in the fourth round.

The Texans, who sunk to 2-14 last season after making the playoffs the previous two years, also added UCLA guard Xavier Su'a-Filo in the second round and Iowa tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz and Notre Dame nose tackle Louis Nix in the third.

In the sixth round, the Texans added Alabama defensive lineman Jeoffrey Pagan (177), LSU running back Alfred Blue (181) and Auburn fullback Jay Prosch (211).

Houston selected Vanderbilt cornerback Andre Hal with the first pick in the seventh round and selected Mr. Irrelevant, Memphis safety Lonnie Ballentine with the final pick in the draft (256).
