HOUSTON -- Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak on Thursday said T.J. Yates will be the backup quarterback for the upcoming season.
Case Keenum will stay in the third position on the depth chart.
Kubiak said Yates "answered the bell" from the challenge by Keenum, but also added that depth chart not set in stone.
Many fans were hoping Keenum, the former University of Houston star who had a strong preseason showing, would be bumped up. Both he and Yates were up for the number two spot behind Matt Schaub.
