AUSTIN – New University of Texas athletic director Steve Patterson didn’t have much time to get comfortable in Austin. Within a few months of his arrival, he found out long-time coach Mack Brown was stepping down and he replaced him with Charlie Strong.
But being in the Lone Star State is nothing new for Patterson, who spent most of his life in Houston. Throughout his professional life, he worked with the Rockets, Aeros and was a key part in helping Bob McNair bring the NFL back to town.
In his first sit down interview since being hired at UT, Patterson tells KHOU 11 Sports reporter Daniel Gotera that he’s happy to be back to a place that feels like home.
