HOUSTON -- The Rockets are coming off what could be their most significant win of the regular season after beating Oklahoma City Wednesday night; but, after trading away four rotation players late in the afternoon, fans aren’t the only ones wondering how this will affect the team’s playoff hopes.

“We’ve never been through this situation before,” said Rockets All-Star guard James Harden. “There’s a lot of things this season we’ve never been through. We’re just going to go with the flow and bring these guys in as much as possible because we kind of know what these guys bring to the table.”

“We’re hoping it doesn’t, but realistically we lost three rotation players and a starter,” said Rockets guard Jeremy Lin. “It’s definitely going to hurt before it helps, but it’s just a matter of minimizing how much we’re set back.”

Coming from the Sacramento Kings is power forward Thomas Robinson -- the key piece to this deal.

After being the No. 5 overall pick in the NBA Draft in 2012, Robinson has struggled to get on the floor in Sacramento. But, Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey likes Robinson’s upside.

“Thomas is a guy that people are going to love,” said Morey. “He’s a high energy guy who runs the floor. He led the nation in rebounds at Kansas.”

This deals frees up more cap space for the Rockets, so Morey may target disgruntled Lakers center Dwight Howard during the offseason.

The Rockets should also be able to offer a maximum contract to another marquee player in the future.
