HOUSTON – According to a report by Taylor Hamm from gigem247.com, Texas A&M back-up quarterback Matt Davis has told the coaching staff that he plans to transfer.
Hamm broke the news on his Twitter page.
It's saddens me to tweet this but Matt Davis will transfer from Texas A&M. He will be missed in the Aggie locker room.— Taylor Hamm (@TaylorHamm247) August 22, 2013
Davis, who was a top recruit out Klein Forrest High School, was thought my some to be the next dual-threat quarterback once Johnny Manziel graduates. According to Hamm, Davis will transfer to Tyler Junior College and could start this season.
Davis was recruited by former Texas A&M coach Mike Sherman. Sherman was actually in Davis’ drive-way when he learned the news that he had been let go.
He is the second quarterback to transfer since Johnny Manziel took over as the starter. Jameill Showers transferred to UTEP this summer.
