HOUSTON – Marc Stein of ESPN is reporting that the Houston Rockets have notified teams around the NBA that they would like to trade center Omer Asik by December 19th.
Asik, who has shown his displeasure for the losing playing time to Dwight Howard, is averaging 4.4. points, 6.8 rebounds and 0.41 blocks per game this season.
Last year, Asik averaged 30 minutes per game. That total is down 18.3 this season.
According to the report, the Rockets will look to make the move between December 15th and December 19th. They employed the same approach earlier this year when they traded Thomas Robinson.
Asik began the season in the starting line-up, but was removed after word got out that he had privately requested a trade. After missing time, he returned and apologized to the team. He has since been coming off the bench, but has recently been bothered by what the team is calling a thigh contusion
The NBA trade deadline is February 20th.
