HOUSTON – Rice University and head football coach David Bailiff have agreed to a new contract extension.

Back in December, Bailiff led the Owls to a 33-14 win over the Air Force Academy in the Armed Forces Bowl. In six years at Rice, Bailiff has a record of 30-44, but has guided the team to two bowl victories. In 2008, Rice beat Western Michigan 38-14 in the Texas Bowl.

After that victory in the 2008 bowl game, Bailiff was given a 5-year contract extension that was set to expire at the end of this coming season.

The Owls return 19 starters in 2013 so the chance is there for Bailiff to get his team back to the post-season.
