HOUSTON – Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan met with Houston Astros owner Jim Crane and President Reid Ryan on Tuesday morning at Minute Maid Park.
The details of the meeting were not released, but last week, Reid Ryan indicated the two sides were scheduled to meet to discuss the possibility of the former pitcher joining the Astros in an advisory role.
Nolan Ryan played for Houston from 1980-88 before leaving to join the Texas Rangers. After retirement, he returned to the Astros and worked as an advisor to former owner Drayton McLane from 2004 to 2008.
Recently, Ryan served as CEO of the Texas Rangers, being named to the position in 2011. He left that position last October saying he wanted to spend more time with family.
