Record crowds turn out for NCAA Regional at Rice

HOUSTON – Monday’s crowd of 6,825 breaks the Reckling Park record of 6,603 for the opening game of the 2014 Houston Regional between Texas A&M and Texas.   

The final total for the regional is 36,901 as well as the average per game (5,272) established new Reckling Park regional records.

The previous attendance record was 27,174 in 2004, compiled over seven games as Texas A&M defeated Rice to advance to the Super Regional.  

The previous highest average attendance for a regional here was in 2008 (4,446) when a total of 26,674 fans watch a total of six games, which saw Rice advance to the Supers with a defeat of Texas.
