HUMBLE, TX — Phil Mickelson, No. 9 in the World Golf Rankings, and No. 15 Keegan Bradley are the latest standout professional golfers to commit to the Shell Houston Open.
The PGA Tour’s 10th oldest tournament has already received commitments from World No. 1 Rory McIlroy, No. 5 Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa and No. 8 Lee Westwood of England. "The tournament is still a month out, so we are on track for another world class field," said Steve Timms, Shell Houston Open Tournament Director and president/CEO of the Houston Golf Association.
Players have until March 22 to commit to Houston’s Tour stop, which is scheduled the week of March 25-31 for Redstone Golf Club — Tournament Course.
Mickelson, currently No. 2 in the FedExCup point standings, boasts 41 PGA TOUR victories, including the 2013 Waste Management Phoenix Open. Among his victories is the 2011 Shell Houston Open, plus four major championships — 2004, 2006 & 2010 Masters and the 2005 PGA Championship. Mickelson, who tied for fourth at the 2012 SHO with Bradley, will be making his sixth consecutive appearance at Redstone.
Bradley, the nephew of LPGA great and World Golf Hall of Famer Pat Bradley, won the 2011 PGA Championship en route to Rookie-of-the-Year honors. His other victories include the 2012 World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational and the 2011 HP Byron Nelson Championship. Bradley
