HOUSTON – One of the greatest golf ambassadors the City of Houston has ever seen, Jackie Burke, was honored in January.

The ceremony took place indoors because of bad weather, but the bridge over Cypress Creek in Champions was officially named the Jack Burke Jr. Bridge. His father built River Oaks Country Club and Jackie founded and still owns Champions Golf Club.

Back when he played on the Pro Tour, Jackie won both The Masters and the PGA Championship.

“My dad told me one time before you die, try to leave more than two foot prints,” Burke said. “So, I’m trying to leave a couple of foot prints here.”
