NEW YORK – Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt wasted no time letting his new teammate know what he can expect this year.
“He says he’s going to stay on my butt when I get there,” Clowney said.
The two talked right after Clowney was picked up by the Texans with the first overall selection which got the former South Carolina defensive even more fired up.
“He told me he’s going to give me every piece of knowledge to help me improve my game,” Clowney said. “He’s going to show me like a mentor or big brother to me and I told him I appreciate that and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
It will be a nice change of pace after watching the former Defensive Player of the Year on tape.
“I’m looking forward to it. I’ve been watching him since I was in college and now I get to play beside him so that makes it even better for me,” Clowney said. “Helps me to improve my game to where I want to be, take my game to the next level. And I’m just looking forward to getting to learn from him.”
