HOUSTON – Fort Bend Christian catcher Kendall Brown recently accepted a scholarship offer to play softball at the University of Houston.

In deciding to attend UH, Kendall is not only fulfilling one of her dreams but also one of the Brown family. Kendall’s grandfather attended UH on a football scholarship.

The 2nd generation of this branch of the Brown family tree is represented by Billy Ray Brown. Billy Ray helped the Cougar golf team win 3 National Championships before turning pro. He has since turned to announcing and he currently works for the Golf Channel and CBS Sports.

But even the fact that Billy Ray’s wife Cindy was a cheerleader at UH didn’t necessarily guarantee that the Brown family would continue to spread its roots in UH soil.

KHOU 11 Sports reporter Matt Musil caught up with the 3 generations.
