HOUSTON — Construction on the new football stadium for the University of Houston got a jumpstart Monday.

Crews began erecting major structural steel on the more than $100 million project, which is starting to look like a football stadium.

The new bowled-shaped stadium will have at least 40,000 seats. Opening ceremonies are planned for Aug. 30, 2014.
