HOUSTON – According to multiple reports, the Houston Texans have agreed to new 2–year deal with former Baltimore Raven and free agent safety Ed Reed.

CBS NFL Insider Jason La Canfora first reported the signing.

The Texans and Reed have been talking since last week when on Thursday, general manager Rick Smith flew to Atlanta to pick up Reed at his off-season home.

Reed spent several days in town talking to Texans officials and players, including former college teammate and close friend Andre Johnson. The two sides went their separate ways over the weekend, but representatives from each side continued the talks.

The future Hall of Famer was a mainstay on the Ravens defense. He was drafted in 2002 and during his time in Baltimore, he racked up 61 interceptions scoring 7 touchdowns and picking up a combined 606 tackles.

His new teammates took to Twitter to show their excitement.

"Big ups to Ed Reed signing with us. Lets GO!!!!!," said fellow safety Danieal Manning.

"@TwentyER -hope the rumors are true! Would love working with U. #hurricanepower," tweeted Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.

The team has not officially announced the deal.
