MONT BELVIEU - You can call them the Barbers Hill Bunch or the Magnificent Seven. Any nickname is well suited for the seniors that put on a Barbers Hill uniform. It’s a group which is the heart and soul of Eagles softball.
Meet Courtney Fisher, Randi Rupp, Braegan Hamilton, Sara Rupp, Chelsey Caldwell, Sarah Barker and Erin Houthoofd have been playing softball since they were 6 years old.
Before high school, they all knew each other but were on different select teams so learning to play together was a challenge. Since then, they’ve perfected what it’s like to play with one another.
The stats for this group speak for themselves, Randi, who is the team’s star pitcher entered the week with a 25-0 record, 284 strikeouts and a .094 ERA.
At the plate, the girls are also dominant. Entering Regional Finals week, they had a combined average of 392 with 154 RBI’s but numbers are simply that, the team has grown stronger especially this year.
All seven will be playing at the next level, 4 at Texas State, 1 at Texas A&M, 1 in Galveston and 1 at North Texas, but their goal has been a state title a dream, still within reach.
KHOU 11 Sports reporter Daniel Gotera has the story.
