SPRING - Kayla Nevitt has a unique nickname.
“My coach calls me the silent assassin,” Nevitt said.
And she’s been living up to that name since putting on the Dekaney uniforms her freshman year.
During her high school career, Kayla has been a key to the Wildcats success. She is a sharpshooter, a three point specialist who self admittedly has tried to improve every aspect of her game throughout the years.
Recently, she fell two points shy of setting the school record for points in a game, scoring 31. An accomplishment which takes a back seat to the way she’s grown as a leader.
But knocking down three’s isn’t her only talent.
“I love singing Beyonce,” Nevitt said.
She’s heading to Mississippi State next year, an early commitment so she can focus on what’s really important.
KHOU 11 Sports reporter Daniel Gotera has the story.
