ALIEF TAYLOR – The more stickers on a football player’s helmet, the better. Taylor QB Remi Olonade doesn’t have much room left on his.

“I just stay mentally focused into the game and execute everything I have to do,” Olonade said.

The junior has put together a string of good games for the Lions. In the past two weeks he has score a combined 10 touchdowns, 8 through the air and 2 on the ground. He has 23 on the season.

“I want to get all my passes correctly, get everyone going. O-Line, everyone needs to speak louder and I want to be that leader,” Olonade said.

While he is a force to deal with on the field, Remi admits the toughest part about being the team’s starting quarterback is becoming a better leader. That was something he had to learn over the off-season.

“I just worked on getting active with the teammates to make everyone really listen,” Olonade said. “We all came together and we all have chemistry together. We are always with each other.”

Remi’s work ethic comes from his parents. His father came to Houston from Nigeria and tells his son all the time to never get down on himself.

“My dad taught me how to stay on the right track and my mom taught me how to just be a leader,” Olonade said. “She wants me to make sure I do the right things in class, academics then football.”
