HOUSTON - The Houston Astros and ARAMARK will announce on Friday that nationally acclaimed chef and Houston native Bryan Caswell will bring his signature talents to Minute Maid Park this season.

Caswell, a lifelong Astros fan, is one of the most well-known and visible players in the city’s culinary scene.

Friday, Caswell will prepare a sampling for the media with assistance from Astros catcher Jason Castro and pitcher Mark Melancon at the Five-Seven Grill.

A native Houstonian, Bryan Caswell spent most of his childhood on the Gulf Coast waters—fishing, hunting and boating. Today, Caswell is still an avid outdoorsman and his intense fascination with fishing is reflected in his cooking and on his menus.

Caswell’s award-winning seafood restaurant, REEF, earned him a 2009 Best New Chef Award from Food & Wine Magazine. In this same year, Caswell was also named to Continental Airlines’ Congress of Chefs where he will help shape the menu offerings for their in-flight food service.

He also owns Little Bigs, a casual burger joint and wine bar that became an instant success after opening in 2009.

Prior to his success in Houston, Caswell honed his culinary skills in several cities around the world, including Barcelona, Spain; Hong Kong, Bangkok; Paradise Island, Bahamas and New York City. He has also been featured on the Food Network’s popular Iron Chef Program.
