HOUSTON—A brawl involving dozens of people posted on the Internet has drawn the attention of police in the Sunnyside area, who believe the video contains evidence of criminal activity.
"You can definitely see a riot and possibly even assaults," said Captain James Phillips of the Precinct 7 Constable’s Office. Phillips heads a task force that has targeted crime in Sunnyside.
"I’m appalled at the number of young people involved in the assault," he said.
The brawl took place last Thursday in a courtyard at the Kings Row apartments, located in the 4100 block of Barberry. Witnesses said it involved close to 100 people, most of them attacking a mother and her 15-year-old daughter.
"They were mad over a cell phone and started hitting the mom and her daughter," said Terrell Whitmire, a four-year resident of the apartment complex. "I’ve seen a lot of fights here, but nothing like this."
And unlike previous fights, this one was posted on YouTube.
According to relatives of the victims, the mother and daughter sustained minor injuries.
The relatives also said the people who attacked the women were not provoked.
Investigators are planning to look into the incident.
"But if none of the victims file complaints, there’s only but so much we can do," said Captain Phillips.

To bad it takes this many people to settle a cell phone dispute! What a nice group of neighbors.
