VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Police say a suspect is in custody after a man shot a woman and then exchanged gunfire with police outside a tourist attraction in Vancouver.

Police said in a statement Tuesday that shortly after 11 a.m. police responded to shots being fired outside a Starbucks downtown. Police say they found a woman who had been shot.

Police say the man believed to be the gunman was followed by officers to an area near Science World, where an exchange of gunfire left the man and an officer injured.

The woman is in a hospital in serious condition. The condition of the suspect and the officer was not immediately released.

Police say there are no other suspects.
