MIAMI -- Tropical Storm Jerry has formed in the Atlantic Ocean about 1,200 miles (1931 kilometers) southeast of Bermuda and poses no immediate threat to land.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Monday the storm had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (64 kph). Jerry is moving toward the east and forecasters say a slow and erratic motion is expected over the next couple of days.

Jerry is the 10th tropical storm of the Atlantic season.
