JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Officials say at least two people are dead after a strong undersea quake struck an island in central Indonesia.

The head of the Health Ministry's crisis center says at least 40 people were injured after the early morning 6.7-magnitude temblor. Twenty people are hospitalized, many with broken bones.

A local government official says two people died when they were hit by a collapsing building.

The quake has damaged streets and schools, while a landslide blocked a main road.

Indonesia is still clearing away the rubble from a 7.6 magnitude quake that killed more than 1,100 in September.
