SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (AP) — Costa Rica's new president says he will govern with transparency and plans to reach out to all sectors of society for advice during his four-year term.

Luis Guillermo Solis took the oath of office Thursday in a soccer stadium packed with about 20,000 people.

Solis says he wants Costa Ricans to point out when he is making mistakes and also to support him in times of difficulties.

The 56-year-old president says he will focus on building up small- and medium-size local businesses while strengthening social and environmental programs in a country long considered the most stable in Central America.
