TIJUANA, Mexico (AP) — Sixty Mexican migrants have been detained by U.S. authorities for crossing into the United States from the border city of Tijuana as part of a protest against U.S. immigration policies.

It was the third such group to try to enter the U.S. at the Otay Mesa border crossing in San Diego in the last week.

Mothers holding their children's hands, young students and others gathered Sunday at the border and before crossing said they are protesting a growing number of deportations during President Barack Obama's administration. They are also demanding an overhaul of U.S. immigration laws.

The group was led by two sisters, ages 11 and 12, whose parents live in North Carolina. The girls haven't seen their parents in 10 years.
