BERLIN (AP) — Authorities say a tanker loaded with sulfuric acid has capsized on the Rhine river in Germany and two crew members are missing.

The shipping office in Bingen said there was no immediate word on why the ship capsized early Thursday near St. Goarshausen. The other two crew members were rescued.

The office said it wasn't immediately clear whether any of the ship's load had leaked. It was carrying 2,400 tons of sulfuric acid.

Authorities closed the river to shipping. They were working to secure the tanker and find the two missing crew members.

The accident happened on a picturesque stretch of the Rhine near the famed Loreley cliff.
