Uncle wanted in connection with 8-year-old nephew's accidental shooting

TEXAS CITY – Police in Texas City are searching for an uncle wanted in connection with his nephew's accidental shooting.

The 8-year-old was shot in the face by his 7-year-old brother on August 7 while the children were home alone. The victim remains hospitalized at Memorial Hermann in Houston.

A 9-year-old was also in the apartment.

Police say Marcus Garrett left the children unattended with a pistol in the home. Investigators say they also found a large amount of narcotics in the apartment within the children's reach.

Garrett never returned home after the shooting and hasn't been seen since.

He is charged with abandoning a child, endangering a child and manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance.

Garrett has several distinctive tattoos including one on his chest that says "Blood Sweat Tears." One on his stomach says "MaiKayla" and he has a polo player on his neck. Both arms are also covered with tattoos.
