PLANO –– Plano detectives are investigating a two-year-old’s death as a homicide. Police say Grace Lillian Ford was found unconscious at an apartment complex in the 1500 block of J Place around 1:40 p.m. Thursday.

She died three days later at Children's Medical Center in Dallas.

Stephanie Beltran, the child's aunt, posted to a Facebook group that the young girl's face was tape and she suffocated.

Investigators have kept the details of the case quiet. Ofc. David Tilley with the Plano Police Department says investigators are waiting on key information from the medical examiner before detailing the investigation.

"We are waiting on results from the autopsy, from the medical examiner’s office, once we get the cause and the manner of death, we will have more information on how to proceed from that point on,” Tilley said.

While police investigate, the family's attention is on the grieving process. Days after starting the Facebook page Prayers for Gracie," Beltran says the response has been overwhelming.

"We know we're not alone, other people have been through this, and I think the support is just what is keeping everyone together right now," said Beltran.

More than 1,700 people from around the world have joined the group, many leaving messages of love and support. Users have also donated thousands of dollars to help offset funeral expenses.

"She's a baby, she's only two years old. So, I mean, that would touch anyone, nothing like this should ever happen," said Beltran.
