Loose wallaby captured in Grand Prairie neighborhood

Dany Smith provided this image of "Wally" the wallaby prior to the animal's capture in Grand Prairie on Friday (06/28/13). Police returned the wallaby to its owner. No charges were filed.

GRAND PRAIRIE -- Grand Prairie police responded to reports of a kangaroo on the loose, Friday morning. The animal turned to be a wallaby, smaller than a kangaroo, and was seen wandering the Nottigham neighboord near the northeast corner of Texas 360 and I-30.

Police captured the wandering wallaby, named "Wally," and returned it to its owner.

Authorities said there will be no charges in the animal escape.

A local resident, John Richardson, posted the following tweet after the animal's capture:
