DALLAS — Firefighters found a man dead in a second-floor apartment after fire was reported early Thursday morning in far North Dallas.

The first alarm went out just before 1 a.m. in the complex at 3939 Rosemeade Parkway on the southwest corner of Midway Road and the Bush Turnpike.

Investigators said a four-year-old child in the apartment woke up and alerted his parents, but a fourth person in the unit, an adult  male, was not able to escape.

The cause of the fire has not been released.

The American Red Cross was assisting tenants who were displaced.

Firefighters from Carrollton and Plano were called out to assist their Dallas colleagues.
