AUSTIN, Texas -- Four additional charges have been filed against the driver accused in the crash that killed four people and injured more than 20 others in a downtown crash during South by Southwest.
Rashad Owens, 21, has been charged with four additional counts of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. This brings the total number of charges filed against Owens to 26, according to the Travis County Jail's website. The majority of the charges are aggravated assault charges, but Owens is also with capital murder in connection with the deaths of Jamie West, Steven Craenmehr, Sandy Le and De'Andre Tatum.
Officials say Owens was driving drunk and fleeing police when he intentionally drove through barricades at Ninth and Red River streets near The Mohawk on March 13.
Police say Owens' blood alcohol content was .114, exceeding the legal limit of .08.
