SAN MARCOS -- Police in San Marcos have made an arrest in the stabbing death of a 20-year-old Austin man.
Trey Hatt, communication specialist for the City of San Marcos, said 20-year-old Brelyn Javon Sorrells, was arrested Wednesday evening. He was charged with murder, a first degree felony, and taken to the Hays County Law Enforcement Center.
Sorrells has been described as a standout football star. After graduation, he went on to play for Blinn Junior College in Bryan.
Bond for Sorrells was set at $750,000.
Sorrells is accused of stabbing Arthur Martinez, 20, at a party on Allen Street in San Marcos early Sunday morning. Martinez was taken to Central Texas Medical Center, where he died.
