SAN ANTONIO -- A VIA bus carrying three passengers was swept away by flooding waters around 7 a.m. Saturday.

The bus was headed toward North Star Mall at the McCullough Avenue and Basse Road intersection when it was submerged in water.

The bus operator and passengers were rescued by the San Antonio Fire Department, said Priscilla Ingle, a spokeswoman for VIA Metropolitan Transit.

VIA services were delayed due to rain but would resume temporarily Saturday afternoon. VIA is still working to determine when they can return to full service.
