SAN ANTONIO -- More than a dozen students at Perales Elementary School were treated on Friday after they drank water from a fountain that was tainted with cleaning chemicals.
School officials said a 10-year-old boy was seen on camera and by witnesses spraying the drinking fountain with cleaning supplies that contain ammonium chloride.
The scare sent nurses and emergency medical crews scrambling to treat 18 kids that sipped from the tainted fountain. None of them needed transportation to the hospital.
Officials said it's not clear yet how the 10-year-old will be punished. They said the fountain will be properly cleaned before students are allowed to drink from it again.
