FORT HOOD, Texas—Soldiers and their families sought comfort within the walls of a church chapel at Fort Hood Sunday morning. The Comanche Chapel, one of the largest on post, can hold as many as 400 worshippers on a typical Sunday. This Sunday, however, was anything but typical. "There’s a need to come together," Army Chaplain Jason Blake said. Blake delivered a sermon to soothe wounded families still reeling from last week’s massacre. "The scripture that comes to my mind is, ‘I can do all things through Christ who comforts me.’ And as a congregation, we can do all things through Christ who comforts us," Blake said. As military personnel and their families stood in the partially empty pews, prayers and music filled in the gaps. "Throughout difficult times, we’ve all questioned our faith, and that’s why we call it faith," Blake told worshippers. Blake said services like Sunday's are baby steps to bring families closer to a point of healing.
