NAVARRO COUNTY, Texas — At least one person was killed and six others were injured Saturday morning in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 45 near Corsicana.
The Chevrolet sport utility vehicle that had been traveling from the Houston area to Carrollton when, Texas Department of Public Safety investigators said, the driver apparently attempted to over-correct the steering and the vehicle went out of control around 8:15 a.m.
It rolled over five times in the northbound lanes of the highway at mile marker 234, three miles north of Corsicana.
Maria Elena Martinez, 48, of Humble, was killed in the accident. One-year-old Anthony Resendiz was in a car seat, but was seriously injured. He was airlifted to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas and last reported to be on life support.
Emmanuel Resendiz, 5, and Adrian Reyna, 8, were also taken to Childrens and last said to be in serious condition.
Rosa Resendiz, 26, and Maria Reyna, 19, were the only two people in the vehicle wearing seat belts; they were both in stable condition.
Only one vehicle was involved in the accident.
The investigation slowed traffic in the area for hours.
