AUSTIN, Texas -- Wednesday marks the 46th anniversary of the infamous University of Texas tower shooting.
On Aug. 1, 1966, Charles Whitman went on a rampage, killing 16 people and wounding 32 others.
A ceremony of remembrance will be held at University Medical Center Brackenridge, where the victims were taken that day.
There will be a moment of silence and the unveiling of a newly-discovered historical artifact. It's a plaque which APD presented to the hospital in 1966, commending the staff for their response that day.
