AUSTIN, Texas - Lawmakers will tackle at least two new gun bills as the 83rd Legislature gets underway Tuesday.
One law would cut the 10-hour concealed handgun license class down to just four hours.
Handgun owners would still have to fire 50 rounds of ammunition and pass a written exam.
The other bill would eliminate the four-hour refresher course for current concealed handgun license holders and let them just renew online.
State Rep. Dan Flynn, R-Canton, the lawmaker behind both bills, said more class time is unnecessary saying most Texans are very familiar with handguns and shooting.
