AUSTIN, Texas -- Two of the Department of Public Safety's 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders have been caught in Texas and Louisiana.
On Friday, DPS in Austin announced the arrest of 52-year-old Edward Dwin Jackson and 42-year-old Jimmy Ray McMillan.
Jackson was arrested Thursday night in Houston for failure to register as a sex offender and parole violation. A tip led to his capture at a residence.
Investigators say Jackson's criminal history includes indecent exposure, carrying a prohibited weapon, burglary, drug use and evading arrest.
McMillan surrendered Wednesday in New Orleans after apparently getting in a dispute with another person and finding himself without transportation or shelter. McMillan is wanted in Nacogdoches County for failure to register as a sex offender. His criminal history includes sexual assault, burglary, evading arrest and DWI.
So far this year, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and other agencies have already arrested three Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders, and $10,000 in rewards will be paid for tips that resulted in arrests. The cash rewards are funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division.
