SAN ANTONIO -- A man and an elderly San Antonio woman were killed in unrelated pedestrian accidents on Halloween night.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, Mary Ferguson was killed Halloween night as she tried to cross the street at Nacogdoches Road and Thousand Oaks Drive around 7:30 p.m. Investigators said the driver could not avoid hitting the 79-year-old woman.

Five hours later, SAPD traffic investigators were called to the 500 block of Frio City Road for another pedestrian fatality. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Emmanuel Torres.

Police said a woman in her 70s ran over Torres, who was stretched out in the middle of the roadway. It's unclear why the 21-year-old was in the street; investigators suspect alcohol was a factor.

There are no criminal charges expected in either fatality. Investigators are considering both as accidents.
