KAUFMAN, Texas (AP) -- Kaufman County authorities say they’re receiving tips “on a fairly regular basis” as they move forward with the investigation of the murders of District Attorney Mike McLelland, his wife and one of McLelland’s assistant prosecutors, Mark Hasse.

But sheriff’s Lt. Justin Lewis won’t elaborate on the number or types of tips officials are getting.

McLelland and his wife were killed two weeks ago at their home in Forney. Hasse was gunned down Jan. 31 outside the county courthouse in Kaufman.

Lewis’ comments came Thursday as Erleigh Norville Wiley takes over as district attorney following her appointment this week by Gov. Rick Perry.

She’s a former prosecutor who most recently has been serving as a judge.
