AUSTIN, Texas -- Many Austin residents were late to work Thursday morning as traffic came to a standstill in many parts of the city due to the presidential motorcade passing through.

On Thursday morning, President Barack Obama headed from his downtown hotel to a DNC event at a private residence, tying up traffic as his motorcade drove down major thoroughfares in Austin -- right in the middle of morning rush hour.

According to Trendsmap, the hashtag #ThanksObama was trending in Austin throughout the day Thursday and even Wednesday night, when Air Force One landed at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Obama headed to a private DNC fundraiser at the home of director Robert Rodriguez.

Other president-related trending topics in Austin on Thursday included "fundraiser," "@ParamountAustin," @BarackObama," "motorcade," "paramount," "#obama," "potus," "presidential," "obama," "#potus" and "border."
