BEAUMONT, Texas -- A Texas soldier serving overseas was still able to watch the birth of his child in Beaumont because of modern technology.
Staff Sergeant Guy Simon was stationed in South Korea.
The family doctor came up with the idea of using Skype so he could talk to his wife during her C-section.
It was 1 a.m. in South Korea, but Simon said he had no trouble staying up late even though he had to report for duty three hours later.
“I guess it crossed my mind seeing her for the first time,” Simon said. “I've been contemplating what she would look like, waiting on pictures and for people to describe her for you. You can see firsthand for yourself."
The mother and baby were doing fine.
