SAN ANTONIO -- A suspicious package found near Michael Elementary School has been cleared, according to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

Northside ISD spokesman Pascual Gonzalez told KENS 5 the package was found on a roadway leading up to the school in the 3100 block of Quiet Plain on Wednesday morning.

He said the package had a threatening note attached, but didn't disclose any further details about the note.

The school was given the all-clear around 9 a.m. and operations returned to normal.

Gonzalez said the package did not warrant a evacuation, although the children were being held in a safe area of the building.

BCSO spokesman Paul Berry said they are waiting to see what the bomb squad finds.
