DeSOTO, Texas — Police were at the scene of a deadly case of domestic violence in the 700 block of Timber Trail in DeSoto Tuesday night.
It apparently involves a former police officer, and ended in a murder-suicide in the quiet subdivision just west of Polk Street, sources told News 8.
Found dead inside a DeSoto residence, Andre Murphy, 40, and Catina Murphy, 37, were going through divorce, a source and a relative confirmed.
Mrs. Murphy and her mother were at home on Tuesday evening near East Wintergreen Road and North Polk Street. But when the woman's mother left, a source said, Mr. Murphy allegedly kicked in the door and killed his estranged wife.
Police said they responded to a break-in call at 5:30 p.m.
Before they could get there, a source told News 8 Mr. Murphy, a former police officer according to a close friend, committed suicide.
The couple had a young daughter about age seven, but she was not home when this happened.
Police said the woman had recently moved to the DeSoto address from Cedar Hill. According to investigators, there had not been any previous police response to this address aside from "alarm calls."
What sparked this deadly case of domestic violence remains uncertain.
