WASHINGTON -- Before heading to the White House, Senator Ted Cruz spoke at the Values Voter Summit where he was met by several hecklers.

Protestors from the Fair Immigration Reform Movement were escorted out.

Cruz wasn't bothered by their shouting, even saying President Obama's "paid operatives were out in force."

“It is because of you that the House of Representatives has been standing strong because the House has been listening to the people,” Cruz said.

Cruz also called on voters to continue to stand strong against Obamacare.

The gathering of social conservatives said it considers Cruz and other speakers as leaders of the Republican party.

But Democrats are thanking Cruz.

They said his actions are actually helping them.

The Americans for Change organization sent Cruz a fruit basket with a note that read, "Thanks to you, Obamacare is more popular and the GOP is less so. Keep up the good work."
