SAN ANTONIO -- Investigators say a San Antonio police officer has fatally shot a woman armed with a fishing knife after she refused to put down the weapon.
San Antonio police Chief William McManus says the officer opened fire Sunday night inside the home when the woman came after him. The woman was transported to a hospital, where she was announced dead.
The incident began when emergency medical personnel and police around 10 p.m. CDT Sunday responded to a report of a woman cutting herself with a knife.
The name of the woman wasn't immediately released.
The officer will be put on administrative duty pending a review of the fatal shooting.
