SAN ANTONIO -- A man eating at a local IHOP restaurant was taken into police custody Tuesday morning in connection to a robbery at another IHOP restaurant.
The robbery happened in 3100 block of S.E. Military Dr., just after 2 a.m.
Investigators said a man walked into the IHOP without a weapon and demanded cash from the clerk.
The robber got away in a gold Buick LaSabre with $350, San Antonio police said.
The two employees -- alone inside the restaurant -- were not injured.
Witnesses described the robber as a Hispanic male in his late 20s, wearing a black shirt, jeans and a gold hat.
About an hour after the robbery, police said officers spotted a gold-colored car that matched the robber's vehicle at an IHOP off Interstate 37 and Hot Wells Boulevard. The driver of that car was eating inside the restaurant.
Police said an employee from the IHOP on S.E. Military Drive thought the man eating looked like the robber; however, the suspect was wearing different clothes from what witnesses had described.
Investigators said police searched the suspect's car to check for evidence that would tie him to the robbery but did not find anything.
The suspect was taken into custody for questioning.
