SAN ANTONIO -- A south-side intersection was closed early Tuesday morning after a VIA bus driver ran a red light and caused a car pileup.
The accident happened at the intersection of SW Military Drive and Pleasanton Road, just before 1 a.m.
SAPD said the VIA bus was traveling northbound on Pleasanton Road when the driver ran a red light, hit a silver Volvo -- which then pined a Mercury and a Toyota to a telephone box.
A total of 10 people were injured, including the bus driver and a passenger -- seven were transported to various hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
The intersection was closed for over two hours as clean-up crews picked up debris.
Police said the bus driver admitted to being tired, and that he did not realize the light was red, until it was too late.
The bus driver was cited for failing to stop at a traffic light.
